The Silver Temple preserves an ancient method of transmission: one mentor guiding one initiate.
The mentor is not a guru, therapist, or spiritual authority. They are a faithful guide who has already walked the road now being traveled by the initiate.
The Governing Symbol
The governing symbol of mentorship is the Moon.
Just as the Moon reflects the light of the Sun without claiming it as its own, the mentor reflects the wisdom they have received without claiming ownership of it. The Divine remains the true source of Light.
Rhythm of Instruction
Mentor and initiate meet twice during every lunar month, following the rhythm of the New Moon. Between meetings, the initiate performs the assigned work independently, allowing genuine transformation to occur through personal effort rather than constant instruction.
The Silver Temple is built upon the understanding that genuine transformation occurs between meetings, not during them.
The Gift of Service
Mentorship within the Silver Temple is never commercial. No mentor may accept payment, gifts of significant value, or reimbursement for serving in this role. The mysteries are transmitted freely because they were received freely.
Devotional Practice
Each grade includes a devotional practice selected by the mentor. These quiet acts of charity and service allow the symbolic current of the work to become visible in ordinary life. They are performed without recognition or reporting, cultivating humility rather than accomplishment.
Freedom of Conscience
Upon initiation into every new grade, the initiate receives a summary describing the purpose, themes, disciplines, and expectations of that grade. The initiate is then free to decide whether to continue upon the path. Advancement is always voluntary.
Boundaries and Trust
The relationship is one of mutual respect. The mentor offers guidance within the curriculum of the Temple alone and exercises no authority over the initiate's personal life, relationships, vocation, finances, politics, or religious commitments.
A mentor may recommend, but never command, any decision outside the Work of the Silver Temple.
The Temple also keeps a quiet Rule of Silence: a mentor never boasts of the students they guide, and no initiate competes over mentors. The Work is served in humility, never in rivalry.
Continuity of the Current
If a mentor becomes unable to continue because of illness, relocation, or other circumstance, the Temple provides the initiate with a qualified replacement so that the current of instruction remains unbroken. The transmission belongs to the tradition, never to an individual.
The highest purpose of mentorship is fulfilled when it is no longer needed — when the initiate has become capable of faithfully reflecting the Light for another.
