The Three Pillars

The Silver Temple encourages every initiate to cultivate three lifelong disciplines inspired by the ancient Masonic pillars of Wisdom, Beauty, and Strength.

These pillars are self-governed. They are not examinations or requirements imposed by the Temple, but personal commitments that accompany the initiatory journey.

Wisdom

Wisdom is cultivated through study, meditation, ritual practice, contemplation, and disciplined reflection.

The Temple provides the tools. The initiate commits to using them throughout life.

Beauty

Beauty is cultivated by creating harmony in the world.

Whether through music, painting, writing, woodworking, architecture, gardening, photography, craftsmanship, calligraphy, or another creative discipline, every initiate is encouraged to leave behind something beautiful that would not otherwise exist.

Beauty is understood not as decoration, but as an expression of truth made visible.

Strength

Strength is cultivated by caring for the body through disciplined practice.

Whether through martial arts, strength training, swimming, running, yoga, dance, climbing, or another demanding discipline, the initiate recognizes that the body is the earthly temple through which the soul accomplishes its work.

Together these pillars ask three simple questions throughout life.

Am I becoming wiser?
Am I leaving the world more beautiful?
Am I becoming stronger so that I may better serve others?

The Silver Temple believes that genuine spiritual development naturally produces all three.
